TCAA has three (3) tour categories:

  1. Private Tours - Anytime Anywhere, Do As Your Like, As Long As You Like, Where Ever You Like

    Private tours allows individuals or specialised groups to be driven in prestige four wheel drive vehicles to the holiday destination of their choice.  Specialist trips for fishing, bird watching, film making, scientific research works or just touring around can be catered for. From two days to two months, from Coast to Coast across Australia or Circum-navigating Australia. The choice of timing, destination, length of stay at each location shall be tailored to suit client desires.  Mini side trip and tours by specialised operators such as boat trips up waterways, fishing trips, aerial sightseeing by helicopter, light plane or hot air balloons can be arranged.

     

  2. Tag-along Tours - Follow Us,  We'll  Assist You,  Enjoy Our Company

    Tag-along tours allows people with four wheel drive vehicles to be escorted through more difficult terrain in Australia and follow the tour leader into spectacular scenery where they would not normally venture on their own.

Distances and Tour Duration  stated in these web  pages are indicative only  and should be taken as  a guide.

TCAA's Tour Conditions:

Accommodation

  1. Accommodation is predominantly under the stars in a variety of camp grounds, caravan parks and bush camps. However, approximately one third of the accommodation is in Motel, hotels or similar enabling participant to freshen up.

  2. We provide tents, swags and other camping equipment as necessary only for Private Tours.

  3. All participants are required to provide their own Sleeping Bags or we can purchase for them at additional cost.

  4. Showers, washing and ablution facilities are available at most sites.  However, participant should be prepared for self-ablution and resort to bush toilet facilities during the tour.

Vehicles

 Travel Route

  1. Tours are conducted across the depth and breadth of Australia all as detailed within this website.

  2. Tours usually cover between 150 - 300 kms (75 - 200 miles) per day,  taking advantage of all places of significant interest, attractions and recreational activities along the route

  3. Tag-along tour participants shall drive their own 4WD vehicle

  4. If required we will draft a typical itinerary and offer solutions to meet your requirements. The development of such an itinerary costs $500.00 which is deducted from the cost of the tour.

Vehicles Passenger Capacity and Convoy Size is as follows:

  1. Passengers - based on  3 passengers and one driver  per vehicle

  2. Tag-along convoys - minimum 3 vehicles plus one lead vehicle

  3. Tag-along convoys - maximum 8 vehicles plus two escort vehicles

  4. Tour Duration - this is the minimum number of days as indicated on each tour route, that the tour will operate

Tour Escort / Lead Vehicle are equipped with:

  1. GPS Satellite Navigation

  2. Computer generated electronic maps

  3. UHF radios

  4. HF radio - Australia National 4WD Radio Network

  5. Satellite telephone

  6. CDMA Mobile telephone

  7. GSM Mobile telephones

  8. EPIRB - Emergency Electronic Beacon

  9. Medical Kit

  10. Refrigerator / freezer

  11. Recovery equipment and

  12. Ample fuel between refueling stops

  13. Cooking facilities

  14. Fresh water

All Vehicles shall :

  1. carry a first aid kit

  2. carry basic recovery equipment

  3. carry sufficient fuel between refueling stops

  4. carry sufficient fresh drink and washing water for the duration of the tour

  5. shall be serviced in accordance with the vehicles maintenance and service book

  6. shall be fitted with UHF two-way radio  – these can be purchased or hired at special rates

and CDMA Mobile telephone are preferred

Catering

  1. Catering can either be "Self-Catering" or "Participatory-Catering". 

  2. "Self Catering" - you buy and prepare all your own meals.

  3. "Participatory-Catering" - we prepare the menu, buy and prepare the food.

  4. Irrespective of the catering style, all participants are required to assist in all activities, including cooking, cleaning, setting up, packing up etc.

  5. The lead vehicle tows a 4WD trailer -  kitchen on wheels.

Private Tours

  1. Catering style will be negotiated.

Tag-along

  1. Tag-along catering shall be "Self-catering" participants providing their own food, cooking facilities and supplies.

  2. Should Tag-along participants prefer to be part of the "Participatory Catering" an additional cost shall apply.

  3. Tag-along participants may be required to carry additional supplies in their vehicle.

COSTS

Price includes:

  1. Services of a professional guide

  2. Pre-departure briefing

  3. Pre departure kit.

Private Tour Cost:

  1. Minimum two (2) day hire

  2. Three (3) passengers per vehicle

  3. Cost for lengthy tours are provided on application

  4. Dependant upon pickup points, there may be extra charges for repositioning costs of the vehicle

Tag-along Tour Cost:

  1. The cost of the Tag-along tour will vary dependant upon number of vehicles, number of people.

  2. the cost will also depend on the nature of the tour, tour difficulty rating and distance

  3. Tag-along participants prefer to be part of the "Participatory Catering",  However, other catering options may attract additional costs.

Tag-along Tours costs do not include:

  1. Fuel, food and general supplies

  2. Tents, swags, sleeping bags and other camping equipment

  3. Camping fees

  4. Entry fees to national parks

  5. Permits

Prices do not include:

  1. Air fare, hotel / motel accommodation, hire vehicles, fuel, alcoholic beverages or expenses of a personal nature.

  2. Third party tour operators providing additional facilities and activities such as boat trips or cruises, canoe hire, horse rides, scenic aeroplane and helicopter flights or similar such additional activities.

  3. Travel, health and personal effects insurance.

These items can be arranged to meet your requirements.

Bookings

  1. Deposit of 30% of the tour cost shall be paid ninety (90) days prior to scheduled departure date.

  2. The final balance of the tour cost shall be paid sixty ( 60) days prior to departure date.

Payments can be by money order, bank cheque or credit card (Visa, Bankcard or MasterCard) or Direct Deposit.

Booking Cancellation Refund Policy

It should be appreciated and understood that considerable work, time and effort is required to co-ordinate and organise these tours and associated events. 

Should the client cancel their participation of the tour between:

  1. 90 and 30 days of tour commencement  - a 20% cancellation fee is applicable

  2. 30 and 10 days of tour commencement  - a 40% cancellation fee is applicable

Responsibility:

  1. Each person is personally responsible for the safe custody of their personal items and personal effects

  2. We will not compensate clients for the loss of personal items and effects

  3. Clients are encouraged to have an appropriate level of insurance coverage

Additional Information

Tour participants will be required to attend a Compulsory Tour Briefing Session where safety issues, departure details and basic 4WD skills are discussed.

Participants will be required to show proof of the vehicles suitability for off-road capability.
